What's New with the Downtown Redevelopment
From the City of Las Vegas Office of Business Development:
Julie Quisenberry - Senior Development Officer
Bill Arent - Redevelopment Officer
The goal of redevelopment activity is to work in concert with the
community and private sector to reverse the physical, economic and social
decay within its designated boundaries. Under the guidance of the director
of the Office of Business Development, the Redevelopment Agency is
responsible for the day-to-day tasks of the agency. It also ensures that
the policy directives of the agency board and executive director are
executed.
The redevelopment area encompasses 3,079 acres. The area consists of
downtown Las Vegas, Las Vegas Boulevard to Sahara Avenue. Other commercial
districts include the Owens Avenue, Martin Luther King Boulevard and
Eastern Avenue corridors.
Participation in the downtown redevelopment process requires interested
parties to demonstrate how their project complements the redevelopment
strategy. An applicant must also demonstrate the financial and managerial
capacity to undertake and successfully complete the project, the needs for
the agency's assistance, and the benefit of the completed project to
downtown Las Vegas.
